Who You Are

What are your responsibilities? 

As our Technical Designer, you will take a 2 dimensional sketch and create a 3 dimensional product. You will support the innovation and design team on new concepts including silhouette, proportion and construction standards for our individual brands. To be successful, you will work closely with the patternmakers, designers, clients and sample room to execute brand standards and ensure consistency in fit, construction standards and all quality of standards. You will report to our Design Director.

  • Manage established fit guidelines for several different brands
  • Collaborate with Design in initial stages of tech pack development; create full tech packs / BOMs to efficiently communicate with vendors
  • Measure and evaluate prototype, pre-production and top of production samples
  • Coordinate and conduct on-model fit reviews to ensure products meet brand fit guidelines
  • Take clear and detailed notes and photos during fittings; ability to articulate the fit issues to various clients and present solutions Daily communication with department and maintain daily detailed style and fit documents
  • Work with pattern maker to correct patterns and grading where necessary
  • Maintains all technical specifications from proto to pre production 
  • Communicate each project’s milestones and changes to team on a weekly basis
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs 
  • Maintain project management system across all projects and work streams to ensure consistency and deadlines are met
  • Conducts fittings: measurement, construction and workmanship
  • Maintain Sample Tracking Sheet and ensure all samples are sent in a timely manner
  • Arrange live model fittings for all brands
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs 
  • Maintain project management system across all projects and work streams to ensure consistency and deadlines are met
  • Support individual Brands team with administrative and production-related tasks
  • Communicate each project’s milestones and changes to team on a weekly basis
  • Cutting room support to include cutting out samples, mock-ups, fusing, and pressing

What experience and qualifications do you need? You must also have:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in apparel or related experience
  • 3-5 years of garment industry experience with an emphasis on woven top and bottoms
  • Knowledge of pattern making and grading
  • Knowledge of garment fit and construction with ability to propose solution
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to various apparel categories and sizes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.), Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production development process
  • Team player with ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Detail oriented
